Description
The lead demanded a system that would provide backup power for a small range of home appliances, tied to a sizeable quantity of grid power. An inverter and battery-only installation, the project did not incorporate solar panels.
Inverter
A 1.5kVA Aqua Blue inverter was used in designing the system. A pure sine wave inverter, it does not produce a continuous humming, smoke or buzzing sound. Colourful and compact, it is designed to fit with interior designs. It also comes with displays that helps our client monitor and programme his system.
Batteries
The system incorporates four (4) 200Ah Fullriver AGM batteries. The role of batteries in a solar power system is provide the DC that is to be converted to AC by the inverter for use in appliances and to store energy produced from solar panels for later use especially in the absence of sunlight and grid power.
The choice of AGM batteries was because AGM batteries are the safest battery design. They emit gases only when severely overcharged. They eliminate worries about explosions, spillage and constant maintenance. They are also maintenance-free for life and do not require constant maintenance.

Battery Monitor
This installation incorporates a battery monitor. A battery monitor is a standard requirement by SolarKobo for an inverter and battery warranty.
A battery meter or monitor can help users keep track of the battery performance to maximize efficiency. They can also be used to remotely configure the battery system. Learn all about battery monitors here.
Protection Features
In addition to the protection features provided by the inverter against reverse current, overload and overcharge, the system incorporates extra protection features including AC and DC circuit breakers and surge adapters. They offer additional protection to the client's investment. They also make it easy and safe to disconnect the system from the panels in the case of emergencies like lightning that could damage the inverter or solar panel fires.
