A Review of Seraphim Solar Panels

SolarKobo Score: 4.0/5

Manufacturer's Profile

Seraphim, also known as Jiangsu Seraphim Solar System Co, Ltd, is a Chinese solar panel manufacturer. It was founded in 2011 in Changzhou, China making it a relatively newcomer to the industry. In just 4 years, in 2015, Seraphim was listed as a Tier 1 manufacturer by Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF). Seraphim is also listed as a Top Performer by PV Evolution Labs.

Seraphim is vertically-integrated and manufacturers both solar panels and cells in factories in China, South Africa, and Vietnam with a global production capacity of 7.5GW. Seraphim became globally renowned when it passed the rigorous Thresher Test, demonstrating its ability to produce high-quality, durable solar modules.

Range Of Seraphim Solar Panels

Seraphim offers half-cut, bifacial, dual-glass, MBB panels in four series: the S2, S3, S4 and S5 Series

S2 Series

Launched in 2019, panels in this series features bifacial and monofacial half-cut cells and all-black designs. Seraphim’s S2 full-black half-cell module series has been specifically designed to meet the need for superior aesthetics without sacrificing power output for residential and commercial rooftop installations. The full-black module utilizes a range of large-area wafers, as well as half-cut cells, offering a power output of up to 330Wp with a module conversion efficiency rate of 19.5%.

S3 Series

Panels in this series also feature monofacial, MBB and bifacial panels with efficiencies up to 20.07%.

The S2 All-Black Panel
S4 Series

The S4 Series includes half-cut, bifacial and dual-glass panels. Launched in 2020, Seraphim, the new series integrates 182mm large-size silicon wafers with PERC, multi-busbar, half-cell technologies and high-density encapsulation, increasing the efficiency of the module up to 21.1%.

S4 Bifacial Series

Specially designed for utility-scale projects. It integrates 182mm large-size silicon wafers with PERC, multi-busbar, half-cell, bifacial technologies and high-density encapsulation with maximum output power on the front side of each module reaching up to 540W.

S4 Lightweight Dual-Glass Series

The Seraphim S4 lightweight dual-glass module incorporates 182mm silicon wafers, with ratings up to 400-460W. S4 series adopted 1.6mm+1.6mm bifacial dual-glass design with 28mm ultra-narrow frame can greatly reduce the weight of modules and improve the module efficiency. The new lightweight dual-glass module adopts 1.6mm+1.6mm bifacial dual-glass design, which is thinner, lighter and more efficient and can greatly reduce the weight of modules.

S5 Series

Launched in the beginning of 2022, the new series integrates 210mm large-size silicon wafers with PERC, 60-66 cell multi-busbar, half-cell technologies and high-density encapsulation with maximum power rating reaching up to 670W.

S5 Bifacial Series

The S5 Series includes a bifacial offering that integrates 210mm large-size silicon wafers with PERC, multi-busbar, half-cell, bifacial technologies and high-density encapsulation, resulting in a 600W and above power output.

Warranty

Seraphim's S2 series comes with a 15-year warranty for materials and workmanship, which is longer than the standard 12-year warranty offered by most Tier 1 solar brands. Additionally, it provides a 25-year power output warranty, guaranteeing that the panels will produce at least 98% of their rated power during the first year and lose no more than 0.55% of their power production ability per year, ending with a minimum of 84.8% of their original rated power output. While the warranty is not as comprehensive as those offered by top brands like LG and SunPower, Seraphim's panels offer a good value.

Like other Chinese manufacturers working hard to drive down production costs, Seraphim is driven towards the mass rather than the premium market. But they do not necessarily lag behind the behind the premium brands in performance and even aesthetics. Seraphim offers high performance panels at mid-range pricing. This makes them cost-effective options for users looking for the best performance at mid-level pricing.
