When they draw the AC they need from batteries, they are described as ‘deep-cycle inverters’; when from solar panels, they are referred to as ‘PV-inverters’ or just solar inverters. In this case, the system dispenses with solar panels, which are often the chief component of most alternative energy systems, is a 'battery-only' or more technically, 'deep-cycle system'.
Battery-only systems are tied to grid power. The inverter uses power from the grid to charge the batteries for use when their is no grid power. Systems of this type are often designed to provide backup for clients that have access to a considerable quantity of grid power per hour.

Four (4) 200Ah Deka Gel Cel batteries were used in designing the system. Mk/Deka batteries belong to the premium category of batteries. Alongside the Victron inverter, this is a premium installation.
The batteries used in this installation are valve-regulated and maintenance-free. Their sealed construction eliminates periodic watering, corrosive acid fumes and spills. They come with forged terminals and bushings assuring no leakage.
In a Gel battery, the acid electrolyte into gel-like liquid. This is done by adding silica dust to the electrolyte, forming a thick putty-like gel. We are quick to recommend this type of battery to our clients. They can be installed even in living areas and in office corners. They emit gases only when severely overcharged. They eliminate worries about explosions, spillage and constant maintenance. They are also maintenance-free for life and do not require constant maintenance.
In addition to the protection features provided by the inverter itself against reverse current, overload and overcharge, the system incorporates extra protection features including AC and DC circuit breakers and surge adapters. They offer additional protection to the client's investment. They also make it easy and safe to disconnect the system from the panels in the case of emergencies like lightning that could damage the inverter.
